In the face of growing environmental and social crises, circular economy (CE) research plays a crucial role in rethinking our modes of production and consumption. Drawing on collaborative and transdisciplinary dynamics, it enables the development of systemic solutions adapted to the complex challenges of resource management. This research is also helping to anchor the CE in the practices of economic, social and political players, facilitating their transition to more resilient and responsible models.

The Réseau de recherche en économie circulaire du Québec (RRECQ) invites researchers, practitioners, decision-makers and citizens to submit a proposal for a paper at the conference entitled “Research at the heart of the circular economy”.

This symposium will take place from May 5 to 7, 2025, at the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in Montreal and online, as part of the ACFAS Congress. This event will bring together researchers and practitioners to explore the multiple dimensions of CV and strengthen the dialogue between science, practice and policy.

The symposium is organized around three main themes:

  1. The role of technology and data in optimizing supply chains and recovering residual materials;
  2. Sectoral and societal approaches, addressing circularity in economic sectors and the social and political levers required;
  3. Cross-sectoral and interdisciplinary collaborations, with parallel thematic sessions encouraging the exchange of ideas and the development of tailored solutions.

By bringing together a wide range of players and highlighting innovative projects, this symposium aims to accelerate the transition to an inclusive and resilient circular economy. It offers a space for collective reflection to develop concrete solutions, highlight advances in knowledge and foster the emergence of new collaborations.
