TPS C1 – Scenario Development Tools
Objective
- Draw up a map of available tools and their operational characteristics (data, user profiles, etc.) in relation to user needs.
- Identify the opportunities and limits to the deployment of scenarization tools with regard to the challenges associated with product circularity and resource preservation measures (through case studies).
Examples of Research Questions and Issues
- What tools are available to help identify the best measures for circularizing products and resources?
- What are the characteristics (data, methods, equipment, expertise) of these tools?
- What are the gaps in the spectrum of user needs?
- If so, how can we develop new tools?
- How can we use existing and developing tools to accelerate the transition to a circular economy (digital twins, artificial intelligence, etc.)?
- What are the gaps in the data available to operationalize the tools?
- To what extent do these gaps hinder the identification of circularity channels and the measurement of their effects?
C1 Activities
Projects Led by C1
Defining and mapping scripting tools
The aim of this study is to identify the opportunities and limitations of deploying scalarization tools with regard to issues related to product circularity and resource conservation measures. This study presents the results of preliminary research on identifying the strengths and limitations of scalarization in different application areas. It then proceeds to map the available tools and examine their operational characteristics.
Enabling circularity in energy systems: Design and development of an energy digital twin
This project has laid the scientific and technical foundations for the design and development of a digital energy twin for the province of Quebec.
Towards a geospatial digital twin for the circular economy: recovering organic materials
The aim of this project was to lay the scientific and technical foundations for the design and development of a digital energy twin for the province of Quebec.

Steering Committee
TPS C1, which deals with scenario development tools, is led by a team of four researchers. They are responsible for proposing the orientations of the TPS and represent a diversity of research in circular economy on the theme of scenario development tools.
