Biography

Amina holds degrees in applied mathematics (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) and operations research (Ph.D.). After completing her PhD at Université de Montréal, she did a postdoctoral fellowship at COSMO - Stochastic Mine Planning Laboratory, at McGill University. In 2018, she joined the Department of Management at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières as an assistant professor. Amina has devoted most of her research to the development of decision support tools and methods for complex and uncertain systems. Applications include schedule planning, scheduling, logistics and supply chain management.

Part of her current research focuses on issues arising in the circular economy and waste recovery. This field is of vital importance for reducing dependence on raw materials and adopting business practices that take into account resource scarcity and environmental concerns. Amina has recently developed simulations to assess the economic feasibility of business models based on the circular economy. She is also interested in practical issues ranging from high-level network design under uncertainty to collaborative logistics management, operations and transportation planning. Her aim is to develop approaches to solving these problems, and to explore ways of exploiting available data to inform and guide decision-making. Amina uses a variety of modeling and problem-solving techniques, including stochastic programming, robust optimization, game theory, learning-based matheuristics and classical optimization techniques.

Open data analysis for a circular business model for entrepreneurs

Description

The project aims to develop an open data analysis tool and strategy to enable entrepreneurs to create a circular business model and/or complement their current business model in response to the challenges they face as they try to combine efficient business models and the circular economy (e.g., the lack of tools, coordination of independent stakeholders within a complex network, creation of a value that combines the economic, environmental and social dimensions, etc.).
