Description

There is a significant source of hides from slaughterhouses in Quebec (from cattle, sheep, goats, etc.) that is not being tanned, while the manufacturing sector imports multi-million dollars worth of leather and leather products. This incoherence arises from the lack of links between various stakeholders in the Quebec leather and fur industry. This project aims to support this sector through a circular economy approach while considering the issues of social acceptance and responsible consumption. Through a collaborative process involving different stakeholders in the industry, prospective scenarios will be generated using a morphological analysis approach. This will result in the adoption of an action plan for the valorization of hides through eco-responsible processes in Quebec. At the end of this project, we aim to ensure the sustainability of this industrial sector, which will enable the implementation of the action plan.
