Description
Every year, millions of tonnes of used asphalt are generated by road rehabilitation in Quebec, but their reuse remains limited. The aim of this project is to implement an innovative method for recycling these materials directly at the plant, to produce sustainable, environmentally-friendly pavements. By integrating up to 100% recycled materials, this approach reduces waste, cuts the use of virgin resources and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 50-60% compared with traditional methods. In partnership with the City of Montreal, the project will develop technical criteria to guarantee the quality and performance of recycled materials in our northern climate. The aim is to encourage their adoption by municipalities and industry, thereby contributing to more sustainable road infrastructure management.
