  • Recycling Organic Waste to Develop New Biomaterials

Biography

Passionate and curious, Grégory Hersant has held a variety of positions in research, funding and teaching. Trained as a chemist, he started out as a researcher in green chemistry before turning to project management and research development consulting. He then turned his attention to technology transfer, which enabled him to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the innovation chain. Since 2008, he has been offering consulting services in green chemistry, focusing particularly on the valorization of organic residual materials. Convinced that waste constitutes a great reservoir of opportunity, he saw in Flaura, cuir végétal co-founded with Fannie Laroche in 2021, a chance to prove that transforming agri-food residues into plant-based leather can not only give new life to organic waste, but also help develop a prosperous, environmentally-friendly business. At the same time, Grégory teaches college chemistry at Cégep Limoilou in Quebec City.
