This research project focuses on material flow analysis (MFA) in hospitals. It aims to meet the needs of the MSSS, DMR, and BCDD with regard to procurement, logistics, waste management, and products used, particularly plastics and single-use products. The study consisted of conducting an MFA of medical consumables, plastics, and packaging in two units that generate a lot of waste (the operating room and surgery unit on the 11th floor of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec HDQ). A characterization of inputs and outputs and an analysis of material use were conducted according to a defined methodology.
