Biography

I hold a PhD in economics from the Université de Montréal and am currently a full professor in the Department of Economics at Université Laval. I specialize in the economics of economic and social networks. Networks are structures that make it possible to precisely describe the strength and nature of interactions between different actors (individuals, firms, natural resources, etc.).

In the context of social interactions (relationships between individuals), I am particularly interested in developing methodologies for testing, measuring or explaining the presence and impact of interactions between individuals. These methodologies are usually econometric (statistical) in nature and based on explicit microeconomic modeling. I usually use data collected on friendship relationships between individuals.

In the context of production networks (relationships between firms or economic sectors), I'm interested in the feedbacks between the production network and the environment, and their consequences for sustainable growth. The concept of the circular economy is natural in this context. One interpretation is to strengthen interactions within the production network, in order to reduce interactions between the production network and the environment. My work is mainly of a theoretical nature, given the limited availability of data.
