Biography
Louise Hénault-Ethier is currently Associate Professor at the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique, Director of the Centre de recherche Eau Terre Environnement and a member of the Board of Directors of Recyc-Québec.
She has had extensive experience in launching and coordinating major research projects in the past. She is also familiar with stakeholder mobilization and the planning of major knowledge transfer events between scientists, companies, municipalities and decision-makers. Her research interests include nature-based technologies using insects, plants or microbiota, urban and regenerative agriculture, organic waste management and nutrient cycles, sustainable fertilizers and pesticide substitutes, carbon footprint, environmental and health impacts. It employs transdisciplinary social and political science methodologies.
She is co-principal investigator of a circular economy project focusing on reducing GHG emissions from the agri-food system through genomics approaches (2023-2027). This project, which brings together 25 researchers and 25 stakeholders, aims to optimize the valorization of local agri-food waste and the production of fertilizing by-products in order to reduce the carbon footprint of our food systems, notably by setting up a living laboratory.
