Biography

Kamel Moussaoui is an associate professor at the University of Toulouse and a researcher at the Clément Ader Institute (CNRS UMR 5312), within the Surfaces, Machining, Materials, and Tools (SUMO) group. His work focuses on understanding the relationships between manufacturing processes, microstructure, surface integrity, and the mechanical properties of metallic materials. He develops a multiscale approach combining experimental characterization, process instrumentation, and analysis of damage mechanisms to optimize the performance of metal parts. His research focuses specifically on the influence of surface integrity on the mechanical behavior of materials, as well as on the process-microstructure-property relationships in advanced manufacturing processes. His research has applications in machining, metal additive manufacturing (LPBF, wire and powder DED, WAAM), and strategies for repairing and recycling materials within the context of the circular economy.
