Biography

Johanne Whitmore is Senior Researcher at the Energy Sector Management Chair at HEC Montréal. Her research focuses on the effectiveness of measures to achieve the energy transition and decarbonization of economies, and the application of circular economy strategies to achieve this. Involved in research on these issues for nearly 20 years, her expertise is put to use in the private, government and academic sectors. She was vice-president of TEQ's Stakeholder Table and a member of the Scientific Committee for the first study on circularity in the Quebec economy. She sits on the Industrial Innovation committees of Investissement Québec and Fondaction's Circular Economy Fund. She is a member of CIRANO and the FCCQ's Energy and Environment Committee. She has co-authored numerous studies, including L'État de l'énergie au Québec. In 2020, she received the distinction of Inspiring Woman in Energy from the AIEQ. She holds a master's degree in science from the University of Ottawa and specialized training in management and sustainable development from HEC Montréal.
