Biography
Assistant Professor in the Department of Soils and Food Engineering at Université Laval, Hossein Bonakdari has over 10 years' experience in research and development in the field of data mining. He has worked at several Canadian institutions (University of Ottawa, University of Guelph and University of British Columbia) and abroad (University of Razi, Laboratoire Central des Ponts et des Chaussées, Université de Caen and INSA Lyon).
In the past, he has been particularly interested in establishing new perspectives on watershed water resource analysis, taking into account the effects of climate change through practical hydrology. He has considerable expertise in water management and artificial intelligence and machine learning methodologies. He has published over 210 articles on these subjects in international journals.
His research has mainly focused on the development of new artificial intelligence and machine learning methodologies, as well as on the use of a real dataset to carry out a variety of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research, computer simulations of problems involving complex mathematical solutions, and field investigations of various practical problems. Hossein Bonakdari has demonstrated the immense potential of programmable technology methodologies in the management of practical engineering problems. He has also given over 50 presentations at international conferences.
He is a member of the editorial board of several reputed journals and has been guest editor for special issues on water resources and hydrology. He is also a reviewer for over 50 journals in the fields of hydrology, irrigation, water resources and hydroinformatics. He is one of the 2.5% most influential researchers on ResearchGate. In 2019 and 2020, the Web of Science counted him among the top 5 water management researchers in Canada.
