Biography

Daniel Poisson is a bilingual senior chemist with a PhD in physical chemistry from the Université de Sherbrooke and an industrial post-doctorate in applied research on chrysotile asbestos. He has international expertise in ISO 17025 implementation and management of mineral and environmental analysis laboratories (ALS, Bureau Veritas, Alfred H. Knight). He combines this with industrial R&D experience in chrysotile asbestos, refractory cements, polymers and rubber, pyrolysis products (biochar, bio-oil), leather tanning and fur preparation. In particular, he is now active at Écofaune boréale in the purification of seal fat into omega-3 acids by molecular distillation at the Centre intégré de la valorisation des produits du phoque in the Iles de la Madeleine.

At this point in his long career as a chemist, he is applying his research expertise to innovation, green chemistry and the circular economy, as well as mentoring others. He is also involved with the Ordre des Chimistes du Québec, on the professional inspection committee.
