Over the past three years, Lab Construction has carried out 19 projects testing the application of circular economy strategies in the construction sector. The Lab’s methodology and approach will be discussed, along with the results of the projects.

Panellists

  • Raphael Lopoukhine, director, strategic initiatives, CELC
  • Paul Shorthouse, director, CELC
  • Li-Anne Sayegh, sustainability and circular economy consultant, Arup Canada
  • Erik Poirier, professor, École de technologie supérieure
  • Alice Rabisse, project manager, CERIEC
  • Nathalie Drapeau, director, Régie intermunicipale de traitement des matières résiduelles de la Gaspésie

The webinar will explore four key projects that span the entire building lifecycle; from design, to lifecycle assessment, materials traceability and deconstruction optimization. Participants will also learn how the future Circular Construction Innovation Hub (CCIH) aims to transfer these learnings to the built environment elsewhere in Canada. The Quebec Lab has demonstrated that circular solutions can work in practice – now it’s time to extend these innovations across the country.

The Construction Lab, developed by the Centre d’études et de recherches intersectorielles en économie circulaire (CERIEC) at École de technologie supérieure de Montréal, has been mobilizing stakeholders to adopt circular economy strategies and practices since 2021. Find out more about the Lab.
