The FRIVEP project (France) explores technological and organizational solutions to establish a recycling system for end-of-life professional clothing.
Launched in 2016 under the initiative of the Orée association, this project stands out due to its innovative governance model:
- It is led by a recognized national association, which is not a professional federation of the textile sector.
- It was initiated and funded by end users—companies that purchase these garments for their employees and manage their end-of-life disposal—because existing solutions did not meet their needs.
In April 2016, FRIVEP was officially recognized as a Green Growth Commitment (ECV) by the French government, making it one of the first projects validated by the Ministries of Industry and Environment.
Since then, its governance model has inspired other industrial sectors. The project has moved into an industrial demonstration phase, with plans to launch a full-scale industrial unit within the next two years.
