Adi Datta and Tasha Freidus  from the Shorefast Institute of Place-Based Economies, will lead an interactive one-hour workshop introducing participants to Shorefast’s approach to the role of place in economic development.

Attendees will leave the workshop with an understanding of Shorefast’s Economic Stewardship Framework and approach to regenerative investment, as well as an invite to connect with practitioners advancing place-based economic development.

About the speakers

Natasha Freidus

Tasha Freidus is a social entrepreneur and educator with over two decades of experience designing and leading ventures at the intersection of business and social impact. She is responsible for the strategy and launch of the Shorefast Institute with a focus on consulting, training, and network building. Previously, Tasha was the co-founder of NeedsList (acquired, 2024), a technology company that modernized humanitarian response by connecting local suppliers to crisis-affected communities. Tasha currently teaches social entrepreneurship at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs where she serves as an Entrepreneur in Residence.

Adi Datta

Fort de son expérience dans les domaines de la politique publique, des affaires internationales et des marchés financiers, Adi Datta s’attache à promouvoir des initiatives économiques ancrées localement et centrées sur les communautés. Il est titulaire d’un master en administration publique (avec mention) de la London School of Economics and Political Science, ainsi que d’un master en affaires internationales de la Munk School de l’Université de Toronto. Auparavant, Adi a occupé divers postes chez Barclays, au Tony Blair Institute for Global Change et chez EY, acquérant ainsi de l’expérience dans la gestion des risques, le conseil aux gouvernements et le conseil en matière d’ESG. Son expérience de vie en Inde, au Nigeria, à Singapour, au Royaume-Uni et au Canada lui confère une compréhension nuancée de la manière dont le lieu façonne le développement économique et la vitalité des communautés.
