Biography
After completing graduate studies on agrarian transition in Southeast Asia—specifically through the analysis of agricultural landscapes in Vietnam (M.Sc.) and Java (Ph.D.)—Louis Tanguay turned his attention to social issues related to governance and natural resource management in Quebec, including biodiversity concerns. Drawing on his background in classical geography, sociological theories, the institutionalist approach, systems dynamics, and biology, Mr. Tanguay has been contributing his multidisciplinary expertise to the RRECQ as a research associate since the summer of 2025. His interest in the circular economy is rooted in the same foundation as his previous work—namely, issues related to the governance of the circular economy, its territorialization (particularly in rural areas), citizen agency, and the spillover effects of circular initiatives, all analyzed through the lens of systems thinking.
