Biography

Selma is currently coordinator of the environmental biotechnology and applied ecology laboratories at the Industrial Waste Technology Center. She holds a master's degree in environmental management from the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICH) in Greece (2009), and a doctorate (PhD) in rural engineering, water and forests from the National Agronomic Institute of Tunisia and in collaboration with the University of Tsukuba in Japan (2015). She also carried out her postdoctoral research at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) in Quebec City (2019-2021). Her fields of expertise are the application of biotechnologies in a circular economy context, bioremediation of effluents and contaminated soils, biohydrometallurgy, biomass valorization, and environmental risk assessment.
