Biography

Justin Leroux is a full professor in the Department of Applied Economics at HEC Montréal. He is a Fellow and Senior Researcher (Sustainable Development) at the Centre interuniversitaire de recherche en analyse des organisations (CIRANO), and a regular member of the Centre de recherche en éthique (CRÉ, Éthique et économie axis). A former Commissioner of the Ecofiscal Commission of Canada, he is an expert member of the new Canadian Institute for Climate Choices.

He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Rice University, an M.Sc. in applied mathematics from Sorbonne University, and an engineering degree from the École Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées (ENSTA). He is a laureate of France's national agrégation competition.

His research interests focus on issues of distributive justice and cost sharing, and their application to the development of pricing rules for public services and environmental policies. He is regularly called upon to advise private firms and public bodies on the pricing of their services. He is the recipient of several research grants from various organizations, including SSHRC (Canada), FRQSC (Quebec), FNS (Switzerland) and ANR (France).
