Biography

Julio Montecinos is a professor in the Department of Systems Engineering at the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in Montreal. His research focuses on urban logistics, reverse logistics for electric vehicle batteries, transportation optimization, and decision support systems combining machine learning and mathematical optimization. Professor Montecinos has extensive experience in sustainable transportation systems, electromobility, and applied operational research. His work covers several areas, including last-mile optimization and forest management planning. He collaborates regularly with industry and several international universities. He has obtained external funding from the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources and private industrial partners, and actively supervises students at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. Julio Montecinos holds a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal, a master's degree in operations research from the University of Montreal, and a bachelor's degree in engineering from the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (Chile).
