Biography

Professor Gabriel J. Assaf is a leading expert in engineering, economics and environmental analysis of infrastructure projects. He works on the quantification of gasoline consumption (Mazda Canada) and pollutant emissions (MCC. gov) by transport vehicles, and their monetization for economic analysis, quantification of the economic and environmental benefits of road reconstruction, quantification of noise caused by urban transport and monetization of its impact on health, infrastructure financing, notably for its maintenance and rehabilitation in over 8 countries, optimization of traffic safety and fluidity at intersections by measuring traffic distribution over time and AI models using a camera, the identification of causes of deterioration to maximize the sustainability of road investments and the consequent economic analyses, the calculation of vehicle operating costs according to road condition and the measurement of waste arising from the poor condition of a road or road network, and the application of laser technologies for the measurement of pavement deterioration and the preparation of economically and environmentally optimized maintenance programs.
