Biography
Aziz Bentis obtained his PhD in Physical Chemistry of Materials in 2020 from Hassan II University in Casablanca, Morocco. As a research scientist, he specializes in solving scientific research problems and developing new processes for the production of high-performance functional materials to meet specific requirements.
His scientific background is multidisciplinary, with notable expertise in the surface modification of materials for technical applications (fire retardant, water repellent, antibacterial, conductive, magnetic, anti-UV, etc.) and their characterization using advanced spectroscopic instruments.
Since 2016, he has held a PhD research fellowship in Morocco focused on the development of multifunctional technical textile materials. He has participated in several research projects, gaining experience in product development, project management, ionic liquid synthesis, nanoparticles, azo dyes, reference material development, dyeing, sol-gel synthesis, chemical grafting, and coating.
From 2020 to 2024, Aziz Bentis was the technical manager of the laboratory and R&D department, coordinating activities around a mass spectrometry platform (ICP/MS, GCMSMS, LCMSMS). He was responsible for developing, adapting, and validating new analytical methods related to the characterization and analysis of organic and inorganic contaminants in various fields such as food products, agronomy, textiles, polymers, and the environment.
In June 2024, he joined UQAT as a postdoctoral researcher, working on the production, characterization, and application of bioproducts and biobased materials for the capture of gaseous and particulate contaminants.
