Tools for the sustainability and resilience of territories
École de technologie supérieure de Montréal x École des Mines de Saint-Étienne (France) joint symposium as part of Entretiens Jacques Cartier 2024. Note that this symposium will be in french.
Environmental issues, public health and the availability of resources to support the sustainable development of our societies require a transition to fairer, more eco-responsible practices. Using a systemic approach and an operational framework derived from circular economy strategies, the project provides an opportunity to exchange tools, practices and feedback on the issues and challenges faced by players from different sectors (academic, public, private). More specifically, but without compartmentalizing them, the topics to be addressed will cover ..:
- resilient infrastructures;
- Scenario-building tools for transition strategies;
- sobriety and frugality for strong sustainability.
The interviews will also focus on the multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral dimension of the approaches implemented to encourage the emergence of new trajectories leading to more resilient territories and communities.
The one-day symposium on October 16 will take place in two parts: an introductory morning session on tools for sustainability and resilience in territories, and an afternoon divided into two parallel sessions. Session 1 will focus on circular economy tools for businesses and regions, while session 2 will address circular economy in infrastructure, buildings and resilience.
