With the growing complexity of the issues associated with the evolution of our societies, the identification of strategies to operationalize sustainable development (SD) and deploy a circular economy (CE) relies on collaborative approaches conducive to the emergence of transdisciplinary practices. The scientific community is consequently called upon to develop an integrated and inclusive vision of knowledge, capable of providing systemic approaches to complex issues whose results must be anchored in the practices of stakeholders and society as a whole.

This symposium is a continuation of the discussions and exchanges that took place during the two symposia organized respectively by RRECQ and IEDS at ACFAS in 2023. By focusing this time on complementarity, it will provide a unique forum for highlighting the plurality of work in terms of the scientific approach and the issues identified (social, economic, technical, environmental, political, etc.), as well as the players involved and the spatial and temporal scales of implementation. The colloquium will also provide a forum for discussing meta-research issues through the lens of sustainability and circularity.

The symposium will also provide an opportunity to encourage exchanges between researchers and students working in the fields of sustainable development and the circular economy. These two eminently interdisciplinary fields have many relevant points of convergence to explore. The rich exchanges between participants will foster the development of new interdisciplinary research collaborations and the advancement of knowledge.
