Faced with the growing limitations of our economic model, several transition approaches seek to rethink the way we produce, consume, and manage resources. While the circular economy is often associated with technological and industrial innovations, it also requires a detailed understanding of its social, cultural, and symbolic dimensions. Addressing these issues requires examining the human, institutional, and narrative dynamics that shape the transition.

The Quebec Circular Economy Research Network (RRECQ) invites researchers, artists, and practitioners to submit proposals for presentations at the conference entitled “Social Sciences and Humanities, Arts and Letters: Borderless Perspectives on the Circular Economy.”

This symposium will take place on May 12, 2026, at the University du Quebec à Trois-Rivières and online, as part of the Acfas Congress.

In addition to calling on RRECQ members working in these disciplines, this conference will be an opportunity to invite researchers working on satellite projects that are closely related to the circular economy but not yet widely integrated into the circular economy literature. The aim is to broaden the community and stimulate new collaborations and perspectives. We welcome both innovative proposals and those more in line with current trends, in the spirit of promoting a happy mix of originality and continuity. Our wish is to provoke surprise and decentering, in order to avoid echo chambers and stimulate genuine intellectual exchange.

Contributions, whether theoretical or applied, philosophical, artistic, or interdisciplinary, and whether they focus on general reflections or specific case studies, are welcome.
