Biography

Patrick Brassard holds a bachelor's degree in agri-environmental engineering (Université Laval), a master's degree in agri-food engineering (Université Laval) and a doctorate in bioresource engineering (McGill University). A recipient of a grant from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies (FRQNT), in 2019 he pursued a postdoctoral research internship at the Institut national des sciences appliquées (INSA) in Toulouse (France), where he acquired expertise in life cycle assessment. Patrick is now a researcher in agri-environmental engineering at the Institut de recherche et de développement en agroenvironnement (IRDA). His research activities focus on developing processes and tools for sustainable agriculture through the treatment of agricultural effluents and the conversion of by-products into bioenergy (bio-oil, biogas) and bioproducts (biochar, biopesticides, biomaterials). In the course of his work, Patrick has also developed expertise in measuring air and water pollutant emissions from various agricultural practices, including manure spreading and slurry treatment.
