Biography

Alan Carter has been a professor in the Construction Engineering Department at the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) in Montreal (Canada) since 2005, and is co-director of the Laboratoire des chaussées et des matériaux bitumineux (LCMB) at ETS. Professor Carter's research focuses on cold recycling of bituminous materials, thermorheological characterization of bituminous materials, surface treatment and mechanistic-empirical pavement design. Active member of several international scientific organizations such as ISAP (President 2023-2025) and RILEM (co-leader of the 280-CBE technical committee "Multiphase characterization of cold bitumen emulsion materials", and leader of the TG1 working group on cold recycling of the TC PAR). Professor Carter is also Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering and a member of the editorial boards of Road Materials and Pavement Design and Materials and Structures.
