Biography

Ramzi Zarrougui is Professor of Chemistry at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. His research focuses on renewable energies, recycling and the recovery of high value-added materials (such as critical metals, plastic polymers and biomolecules) from industrial residues. He is particularly active in the innovation and development of new functional compounds based on ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents as greener solvents for ionometallurgical processes, and as more efficient electrolytes for supercapacitors and electrometallurgical processes. It uses an energy-efficient, carbon-neutral and more environmentally friendly approach within a greener circular economy framework.
