Biography

Luca Sorelli is a structural engineer and, since 2009, a full professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Laval University. Previously, he was an engineer in the Structural Sustainability Division at IFSTTAR (Paris), in the Department of Civil Engineering at MIT (Cambridge), and at the Lafarge Research Center (Lyon). His research interests include: (i) a multiscale approach to the development of cementitious composites, e.g., eco-friendly UHPC with local industrial by-products; (ii) technology for monitoring and repairing structures using impermeable and ultra-durable UHPC reinforcement layers; (iii) numerical analysis, design, and optimization of composite structures for architectural and civil engineering applications. As an expert, he has consulted on several UHPC engineering structures in France and Canada.
